Sweden awards Senior Room Addition contracts

The Sweden Town Board has awarded construction contracts to the four low bidders for the Senior Room Addition to the Sweden/Clarkson Community Center. Low bidders were: general contract, Building Innovation Group; plumbing, E-Plumbing & Piping; mechanical, Leo J. Roth Corp; and electrical, Concord Electric, Corp. Site work will begin in February with actual construction to begin in March.

The Town of Sweden received a $500,000 award from the NYS Housing Trust Fund Corporation and the Office of Community Renewal to construct a senior program room at the Community Center, 4927 Lake Road. The room will be used for senior programming and includes accessibility features and pandemic mitigation features. The space will feature improved ventilation, room for social distancing, a handwashing station, and separate restrooms for senior use.

Construction is expected to be complete by August, just in time for fall programming. “Our seniors will enjoy this brighter, roomier, safer space,” said Supervisor Kevin Johnson. “And our recreation staff is excited about the possibilities for senior programming.”
