Greece Athena High School presents 42nd Street

Come and meet, those dancing feet…This February as the Greece Athena High School Theatre Department welcomes you back to live theatre with the Broadway show for people who love Broadway shows-42ND STREET! Come on along and listen to the lullaby of Broadway, February 4-6, 11-13, 2022.

At the height of the Great Depression, Broadway director Julian Marsh, played by senior Carter Jansson, is desperately seeking a comeback. An aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer, played by senior Gemma Ditullio, comes to the big city from Allentown, PA and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show entitled Pretty Lady. But just before opening night, the leading lady, played by senior Martina De Luccio, breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star? Come and find out!

Winner of four Tony Awards including Best Musical & Best Revival, 42nd Street celebrates Broadway, Times Square and the people who make the magic of musical theatre. The score is full of standards including “We’re in the Money”, “Lullaby of Broadway”, “Shuffle Off to Buffalo”, and “Forty Second Street.”

Greece Athena High School is known for its extravagant and entertaining musical productions and this show is no different. Audiences will be swept away by the lavish costumes, opulent sets, singable melodies, and show stopping tap numbers. This award-winning theatre department will be presenting 6 performances of this Tony Award winning musical at the Greece Central Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are available on-line at ShowTix4U.com and at the door. All evening shows are at 7:00pm and the Sunday Matinees are at 2pm.

To help patrons feel more at ease in their return to live theatre, the tickets this year will be general admission to allow audience members to social distance throughout the spacious 1400 seat auditorium.

The cast is thrilled to be back home onstage after last spring’s production of “Into the Woods, Jr.” which they filmed literally – in the woods!

The cast hopes to make a monetary donation with proceeds of this year’s production to The Golisano’s Children’s Hospital here in Rochester.
