Friends of the Greece Public Library are sponsoring a Used Book Sale on Saturday, August 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Lower Level of Buckman’s Plaza, 2590 West Ridge Road. Selections include children’s books, non-fiction, fiction, mystery, adventure, romance, and more. Cash only. Please bring your own bag.
Taste of the Town
Presented by the Town of Greece and the Greece Regional Chamber, Taste of the Town is a free community event celebrating local food, businesses, and community connection. Stop by the Greece Town Hall Pavilion on Sunday, August 23, from 1 to 6 p.m. to explore offerings from area businesses, restaurants, food vendors, nonprofits, and community organizations.
Homesteads for Hope’s Thursdays at the Farm
Every Thursday through October 15, Homesteads for Hope Community Farm, 2185 Manitou Road, opens for a relaxed, come-as-you-are kind of night – wander the grounds, check out local vendors, swing by the farm store, or let the kids enjoy pony rides. Enjoy it all from 5 to 8 p.m., with the sun going down on the canal and live music playing in the background. Upcoming performers include Shades of Grey (August 27), The Sideburns (September 3), Candy (September 10), Cool Club and The Lipker Sisters (September 17), and Growl Bear (September 24). Bring your own chairs, coolers, or even a fishing pole, and settle in with good people and good energy. Open to all ages and abilities, there is a $5 suggested donation at the door.
Street Machines of Rochester Car Show
Street Machines of Rochester presents its 52nd Annual Outdoor Show on Saturday, August 29 (rain date August 30), from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Badgerow Park South, 1120 Latta Road, Rochester. With up to 500 cars on the field and over 80 awards being handed out, this is one of the area’s greatest outdoor car shows. There will be a wide variety of vendors from throughout the area, including several food options. Pre-registration is $15, and day of the show will be $20. Gates Farmers Market
The 2026 Gates Farmers Market is held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month through October 4 in front of the Gates Public Library, 902 Elmgrove Road. Each day includes a different theme and features a variety of vendors, food trucks, and crafts. Stop by for the First Responders Month Market on September 6, the Pirates & Mermaids Market on September 20, and the Great Pumpkin Market Finale on October 4. Greece Ridge Farmers Market
Shop fresh produce, baked goods, and more from your favorite local vendors from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday and Saturday through November. The market is in the Mall at Greece Ridge parking lot that is parallel to Long Pond Road.
North Chili Farmers Market
Established in 1976, the North Chili Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Saturday through October 24 at the United Methodist Church of North Chili, 2200 Westside Drive, at the corner of Buffalo Road. Greece Historical Society Presentation on Rochester’s Founders
What do Rochester’s founders, the American Revolution, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the struggle for freedom have in common? Greece Historical Society hosts Dr. Timothy W. Kneeland, Professor of History and Politics at Nazareth University, for “Rochester’s Founders – How the Revolution Created Rochester” on Tuesday, September 8, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Greece Public Library. Explore the people and events that shaped our region in this compelling look at the stories behind Monroe County’s earliest settlers and the enduring legacies they left behind. Lakeview Garden Club
The Lakeview Garden Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month, March through December. The club tours local gardens and hosts lectures on different topics related to the environment. Greece Kiwanis Chicken BBQ Fundraiser
The Kiwanis Club of Greece is holding a Drive-Thru Chicken BBQ fundraiser on September 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. under the portico at Orchard View Senior Apartments, Orchard View Drive, Rochester. Proceeds will benefit Honor Flight – Rochester. Dinners include chicken, macaroni salad, salt potatoes, a roll with butter, and a cookie for $20. Stop the Bleed Training
Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time. Join Gates Ambulance and Gates Fire District to learn how to Stop the Bleed on September 16 at 1 p.m. at Gates Fire, 2355 Chili Avenue, and gain the knowledge and confidence to take immediate action during life-threatening situations. This one-hour class includes a lecture portion and hands-on training. Attendees will learn how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and how to apply a tourniquet and hemostatic dressing to slow or stop the bleeding. A Friends and Family CPR class will follow. Vendor & Craft Sale
A Vendor & Craft Sale will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Greece Firemen’s Field Pavilion, 3666 Latta Road. Explore offerings from 30 unique vendors. The sale benefits the Seneca Park American Association of Zoo Keepers Chapter.
Gates Historical Society Presentation
The Gates Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of the month (March–November) at the Gates Town Hall Annex. The meetings are free, accessible, and open to the public. SUNY Professor Michael Oberg and the Rochester Historical Society will present “You Live on Stolen Ground” at the September 21 meeting, exploring local Indigenous Dispossession and the Revolution in New York State. Town of Greece Trick-or-Trot
Lace up your sneakers and grab your costume because the Town of Greece will hold its first-ever Trick-or-Trot 5K, happening Halloween morning! Whether you run, jog, or walk, this festive 5K through Greece is open to all ages and abilities. Costumes are strongly encouraged, so come dressed to impress (or scare).
