The Town of Sweden will host its second skatepark design workshop on Thursday, February 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sweden Town Park Lodge, 4761 Redman Road. All are welcome to attend the open session that will be led by the design team from Spohn Ranch.
A preliminary design will be unveiled at the workshop and input will be taken for the final design process. The new skatepark is being constructed directly north of the existing skatepark, on a deteriorated parking lot area. The old skatepark asphalt pad will be re-used as a new parking lot.
The Town of Sweden plans to construct the new concrete skatepark in the summer of 2022. Sweden received a $250,000 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation in conjunction with The Skatepark Project. An additional $50,000 was granted for environmental features.
