•Katawazi, William T., unexpectedly on June 23, 2014 at age 5. Survived by his parents, Al Katawazi and Heather (Hutchurson) Katawazi, grandparents, Mohammad and Sarah Katawazi, Garry and Wendy Hutchurson; great-grandparents, Abdul and Bibi Katawazi, Richard Keirsbilck; aunts and uncles Dina Katawazi, Namat Katawazi, Jeff and Lisa (Hutchurson) Lynch, Ryan and Michelle (Hutchurson) Shafer and cousins Maya, Zendage, Jack and Savannah. William graduated from preschool this year, he earned his yellow belt in karate and his Jr. Flight Wings, was learning German, ran a 1K and once hiked five miles in a day. He launched rockets, was an accomplished sword fighter, super hero, rocket man and monkey climber. William loved the water and cared about everyone.
His interment was held June 28 at Mt. Rest Cemetery, Bergen. William’s Memorial Service was celebrated at First Presbyterian Church, Bergen, following the interment. Contributions can be sent “In Memory of William Katawazi” to CP Rochester, the preschool he attended for children with developmental disabilities, at 3399 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623. It is the wishes of William’s parents to build in his honor an adaptive zipline for kids who otherwise would not be able to fly.
