Rochester Oratorio Society to present concert
The Rochester Oratorio Society will present the much-anticipated concert, “Hallelujah from on High,” featuring Adolphus Hailstork’s cantata, “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes,” alongside compositions by Mozart and Beethoven. This musical event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 27 at Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 North Plymouth Avenue, Rochester.
Adolphus Hailstork, a distinguished composer and educator, returns to his hometown of Rochester to showcase his masterpiece, “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes.” The cantata, which brings together the talents of tenor Ziwen Xiang, the Rochester Oratorio Society Chorus, and Orchestra, is a profound exploration of Psalms 121, 13, and 23. This collaboration promises to captivate the hearts and minds of all in attendance.
Ziwen Xiang, renowned for his brilliance as a tenor, will reprise his Carnegie Hall performances in the role of the tenor soloist, bringing his vocal prowess to elevate the evening’s experience.
In addition to Hailstork’s masterpiece, the concert will also feature Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Mass in C Major, K. 317, Coronation” and Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Hallelujah,” from “Christ on the Mount of Olives.” These iconic compositions will further enrich the evening’s program, providing a diverse and transcendent musical experience.
