Greece Athena High School Music Theatre Presents GREASE!
Grease is coming back to Greece NY this February with six shows at the Greece Central Performing Arts Center at Athena on February 2,3,4,9,10,11. Get out your leather jackets, pull on your bobby socks and take a trip back to the fabulous fifties with the original rock n roll high school musical, GREASE.
Since its electric Broadway debut in the early 1970’s, GREASE has remained one of the world’s most popular and enduring musicals. GREASE follows the journey of Danny Zuko, played by junior Anthony Raymond and Sandy Dumbroski, played by junior Sophia Butera, as they try to relive their summer romance in “Summer Nights.”
Seniors Taylor Spriggs and Ethan Rodriguez who play Rizzo and Kenickie, along with their fellow T-Birds and Pink Ladies, sing and dance to such hit songs as “Greased Lightning”, “Beauty School Dropout”, “Sandy”, “Hopelessly Devoted”, and “You’re the One That I Want” as they navigate high school to the unforgettable rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack that defined a generation.
The award winning Greece Athena High School Theatre, who won RBTL’s first Overall Production of the Year for 42nd Street and was voted Rochester Rocs Best Drama Club, is known for its extravagant and entertaining musical productions and this show is no different. Audiences will be swept away by the costumes, sets, singable melodies and electrifying dance numbers. When you come, make sure to check out the authentic 1948 Ford Mercury that will be featured in “Greased Lightning.” Locating this beauty could not have been done without the dedication and support of many parents, both alumni and present.
Tickets are available on line at showtix4U.com and at the door. All evening shows are at 7:00pm and the Sunday matinees are at 2:00pm.
The original movie starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, both have been affected by breast cancer. The cast plans on making a donation to help support breast cancer survivors in the area.
