Spencerport appoints new elementary special education coordinator

Nicole Hamelin has been appointed the new elementary coordinator for special education at the Spencerport Central School District. Hamelin has been a faculty member in the district since 2015, serving as a special education teacher at Canal View for seven years and as a special education teacher on special assignment (TOSA) at the district level for the last two years. She is filling an open position.

“Nicole has a genuine connection to and love of special education,” Superintendent Ty Zinkiewich said. “She has demonstrated a deep understanding of the unique needs of our students, and with her knowledge and experience, is the ideal leader to guide our inclusive efforts into the future.”

Hamelin has earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees and will be completing her certificate of advanced study in educational administration all from SUNY Brockport. She holds New York State certifications in early childhood education, childhood education and students with disabilities.
