Runners from Churchville-Chili and Spencerport win State Championship in intersectional relay

Churchville-Chili’s Ricky Lagares (left) and Spencerport’s Toby Dickerson (second from right) were part of the Section V relay team that won the State Championship in the intersectional distance medley relay. The intersectional distance medley relay is a rare event that takes place in indoor track where one athlete runs a 200m, then another runs the 600m, then the 1000m, and finally the 1600m. The third place finisher at the State Qualifiers in each of those events goes as a relay runner, and is part of a Section V team. Each section puts a relay into the state meet and competes against the rest of the sections in the state. Lagares ran the 200m leg of the relay and Dickerson ran the 1600m.
