Local businesses team up to offer beautiful springtime memories

This spring, two local businesses – Dear Blossom Studios and Kirby’s Farm Market – have teamed up to create an exclusive experience: portrait sessions within blooming cherry, peach, and apple orchards.

“We believe that everybody – and every body – will blossom in the right environment,” explains photographer Emma Rizzo, co-founder of two-year-old Dear Blossom Studios. “And what could be a more perfect environment for blooming?”

From stand-out senior portraits to cherished mother-and-daughter memories, Orchard Blossom Sessions are available on a limited, first-come, first-served basis through May (subject to the whims of Mother Nature, of course).

“We’re thrilled to offer such a beautiful backdrop for portraits, especially because ‘blossom’ is right in our studio name,” points out Sammi Cohen, Dear Blossom Studios’ co-founder and creative director. “We’re so thankful to our friends at Kirby’s Farm Market for collaborating with us on this unique experience.”

Every 60-minute package at Kirby’s Farm Market, 9739 Ridge Road West, Brockport, includes styling assistance, props, an outfit change if desired, a downloadable image gallery, à la carte printing, and a complimentary basket of local goodies from Kirby’s. All COVID safety procedures will be followed. The cost is $350. To book a session, contact hello@dearblossomstudios.com or visit https://www.dearblossomstudios.com/upcoming-events/.

“Kirby’s Farm Market couldn’t be more excited to be teaming up with Dear Blossom Studios,” adds Assistant Vegetable Production Manager Mandy Kirby. “Giving people an opportunity to explore the orchards in prime bloom…while Sammi and Emma take stunning images is the perfect way to start off spring!”

Built in 1970 by brothers, George and Bob Kirby, Kirby’s Farm Market started out as a way to sell homegrown fruits and vegetables directly to the public. In 1989, the market was passed on to George’s son, Timothy Kirby, and his wife Linda. Over the decades, the market has grown from a one-room, garage-style building to a cozy market. First, a gift shop was added, featuring locally crafted and sourced products. In 1990, a small greenhouse was built onto the market, offering a few popular annuals and hanging baskets. Eventually, the greenhouses grew to the current large facility, housing thousands of annuals in the spring. The perennial area expanded from a few dozen types to hundreds of interesting varieties. Next, Kirby’s extended its season into December, offering Christmas trees, wreaths, and poinsettias. And in 2020, a Community Supported Agriculture program was added. No matter how the business evolves, however, the Kirby family still works together to keep everything running smoothly. While Tim is working in the fields, his wife Linda manages the market, son Chad and wife Mandy help on the farm, and daughter Stacey manages the website. Kirby’s dedication to quality fruits and vegetables never wavers and their standards are high – from what they pack in their CSAs, to every item on their market tables. “Farming is our life, and we’re happy to share it with you!”
