Depot welcomes visitors to Spencerport
The Spencerport Depot, Museum and Visitors Center as of August 1 has had over 2,000 visitors, nearly 100 boat docking and continues to be one of the best stops on the Erie Canal. A large grocery store within walking distance of the canal is a big plus of the village. A new visitors map next to the Depot helps boaters and other visitors to see and learn what Spencerport has to offer.
All of the museum’s artifacts are being recorded and cataloged by a part-time employee, Nora Venzeky. Nora hopes to complete the task by early fall.
The Education Committee is going to hold a photo contest starting in early spring. Watch for more details or call the museum directly.
The Depot is always looking for fun loving people to spend an hour or two greeting all the visitors that come to Spencerport by boat, bike or legs. Call Doreen at 352-0942 or email her at dcastano@rochester.rr.com so the Depot can continue to stay open all summer and fall.
