Brockport First Baptist Church playing a different tune

Brockport First Baptist Church, 124 South Main Street, invites the community to something unique.  As of Sunday, August 2, everyone has the opportunity to enjoy Praise Singing prior to the start of the regular worship service.  Every Sunday morning from 9:45 to 10 a.m the church will sing songs of popular contemporary Christian artists, such as Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Chris Tomlin and others.  “We are trying something new,” according to Pastor Joanne Gilbert-Cannon.  “There is so much wonderful new Christian music out there.  This gives us the chance to learn something new and still enjoy the familiar hymns that we love.”  Pastor Joanne points out that, “The community is welcome to join in on this. You don’t have to stay for the service, but we would love to have you join us for worship, too!”

Music Director Kim Emanuel has been busy collecting songs for all to enjoy singing.  Kim will play piano with the help of two guitarists, Barb McCauley and Lori Steenson.  Dick Carter will help in leading the singing.  Kim hopes that other instrumentalists, especially some percussion, will want to join to help lead the church in praise time.
