Congratulations to the five winners of the Apple Pie Baking Contest.
In the Youth Division (ages 16 and under) Daniel “DJ” Okeefe won first place with his pie of Empire apples; he won $50. Claire Buck won second place with her pie of Cortland and Macoun apples; she won $25.
In the Adult Division, Lauren Appleton won first place with a pie of Rome and 20 Ounce apples; she won $100. Betty Wilhelm won second place with a pie made of 20 Ounce apples; she won $50. Cynthia Corette won third place with a pie made of Cortland, 20 Ounce, Macintosh and Spy apples; she won $25.
A total of 30 pies were submitted. Judges were Nate Busekist, Michael Cifuentes, Rob Dickersn, Dave Griggs, Wayne Hibbard, Paul Marvin, Debbie Nellis and Joe Sciortino. Volunteers for the Apple Pie Contest were Aggie Abbey, Audrey Blocchi, Frank Crocetta, Mary Herring, Becky Hibbard, Rachel Hibbard, Janet Lincoln, Joan Marvin, Cheryl Miles, Carol Miller, and Shannon Zabelny.
