Metro Footcare joins UR Medicine

Brockport location will move to Strong West

Metro Footcare, which has four podiatry practices in the Rochester area that have served patients for more than two decades, has joined UR Medicine effective March 1. It has become a division of UR Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation and is now known as UR Medicine Podiatry.

“We are excited to become part of UR Medicine and what this means for patients, who will continue to receive exceptional podiatric care while gaining access to the excellent Orthopaedic services and surgical facilities offered by UR Medicine,” said Pearce Sloan, DPM, FACFAS.

The practice also includes podiatrists David High, DPM, FACFAS; Michael Gruttadauria, DPM; and Ayaz Habib, DPM.

“Podiatry services are a valuable addition to UR Medicine Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation’s complement of services,” said Adolph S. Flemister, M.D., Chief of Orthopaedics’ Foot and Ankle division. “This will provide patients and their referring physicians with a single source for the most advanced and comprehensive range of services concerning the foot and ankle. Additionally, patients and referring physicians who have received excellent support from Metro Footcare in the past will see new benefits as podiatry integrates with UR Medicine’s information technology enterprise. Access to UR Medicine’s electronic medical record system and MyChart, as well as appointment scheduling and patient billing systems, will deliver enhanced efficiencies and information-sharing capabilities to streamline service and improve patients’ experience of care.”

UR Medicine Podiatry will offer specialty care in diagnosis and treatment of foot disorders, and provide both nonsurgical and surgical care, including: care for bone, joint, ligament, muscle and tendon problems of the foot, including diabetic conditions; fractures; gout; heel pain; treatment of bunions, calluses and warts; and fitting patients for orthotics.

UR Medicine’s Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle division includes nationally renowned physicians and researchers who offer a range of services, including ankle arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction, foot reconstruction, and ankle replacement. UR Medicine’s foot and ankle specialists treat arthritic conditions, sports medicine injuries, fractures and dislocations of the foot and ankle, painful flatfoot, and diabetic foot and ankle problems.

UR Medicine Podiatry will continue to offer outpatient podiatric care at the same locations in Brighton, Greece and Webster where Metro Footcare patients had been seen for many years. Its Brockport location has relocated to Strong West. The podiatrists will offer surgical care at Strong West and at Sawgrass Surgery Center in Brighton.

The new UR Medicine Podiatry practice will begin seeing patients March 6. Patients who wish to make an appointment may call the Access Center at 275-5321.
