The Opera Guild of Rochester has scheduled a tour to see the 2 p.m. matinee performance of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” presented by Syracuse Opera on Sunday, April 15.

Set in turn-of-the-century Japan, 15-year-old geisha Cio-Cio-San renounces her occupation and religion so that she may marry the American naval officer B. F. Pinkerton. Following their wedding night, Pinkerton must leave but promises to return “when the robins build their nests.” The performance will be sung in Italian with English supertitles.

The price is $195 per person ($175 for Guild contributors), and includes prime seats at Syracuse Opera, a round-trip coach with boxed lunch, and a four-course, sit-down dinner at Abigail’s in Waterloo. The registration form can be found online at www.operaguildofrochester.org/tours.html.
