An evening with the New York State Ballet

Rochester’s New York State Ballet will present a sampling of their celebrated past performances alongside select classical pieces on the Hochstein stage, hosted by WXXI’s Julia Figueras with a champagne reception to follow.

With staging by Artistic Director Katherine Johnson and Graduate Program Director Alexandra Brydsten, and original choreography by Assistant Artistic Director Sarah Rothrock-Rickel, Ballet Master Robert Royce, and training academy Ballet Prestige instructor and celebrated choreographer Zachary Frazee, this kick-off to New York State Ballet’s 2018-2019 season at the Hochstein School’s Performance Hall will be held on October 6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available now at nysb.simpletix.com.

The evening will include performances of Mozart’s Requiem, with critically acclaimed choreographer Sarah Rothrock-Rickel; La Bayadere, performed by the graduate students at NYSB; Alice in Wonderland, appealing to audience members both young and old; Paquita, considered by many to be one of the cornerstones of the traditional classical ballet repertory; The Red Death, Zachary Frazee’s interpretation of Edgar Allen Poe’s short story “The Red Death” is at times eerie and enchanting, combining contemporary ballet and character acting into a performance; and Carmina Burana, entices the audience with its powerful and worldly magnetism.
