Nativity BVM Church to dedicate new parish center

The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano, Bishop of Rochester, will dedicate the new over 8,000 square foot parish center of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 152 Main Street, Brockport. Bishop Matano will celebrate the 9 a.m. Mass Sunday, October 27 followed by dedication of the new parish center. There will be tours of the church and parish center. A reception will follow. There will be an Open House later in the afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. also with tours. All are welcome.

About 5 ½ years ago the church started a dialogue with parishioners as to what the needs of Nativity were. Through a survey and discussion with the Nativity community, it was determined that, after the sale of the school building, Nativity needed space for class rooms for religious education, meeting space for many different parish groups, and a larger gathering area for social events. As the church moves forward, this new addition fits the parish’s needs as well as the Brockport community’s concerns with history and architecture.
