Bicycles and Flowers project returns to Spencerport for 2020

Bicycles and Flowers is a beautification project launched last year by the Spencerport Rotary Club. Over 20 businesses, individuals, churches, and organizations participated in 2019.

The project is open to any Spencerport or Ogden area business, service organization, church, school, non-profit group, youth group, or resident who wishes to be involved. There are three simple steps for being a sponsor – 1. Find a bicycle. 2. Paint and / or decorate it. 3. Submit a picture to show it off.

Any type of bicycle is welcome – men’s, women’s, children’s bicycles, racing bicycles, tricycles, and even a bicycle built for two.

The options to decorate are endless – all that’s asked is that the decoration be tastefully done. The decorations can tie in with your business, your organization, or your hobby. You can use your favorite bright colors, add ribbons, streamers, a sign, etc. then add your favorite flowers, planted in a fun container – a basket, a milk carton, a bucket. Use your imagination.

Businesses can display their bicycle in their window, in their store, or anywhere on their own property. Be sure not to block the sidewalk or attach to trees, lampposts, etc. This can be a great family project for adults, children, and grandchildren, so residents are encouraged to participate and display their work of art as well.

If you do not have a bicycle, the Spencerport Rotary Club has an assortment to choose from. Email colleen1031@yahoo.com to receive pictures of bikes to choose from. A safe, no contact pickup can be arranged.

Bicycles and Flowers is a fun project and a great way to colorfully decorate Spencerport.
