Monroe educator wins national award

Jarmila Haseler, Agriculture Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County, has received the National Association of County Agriculture Agents (NACAA) Achievement Award. The award recognizes agents with less than ten years of service in Cooperative Extension who have exhibited excellence in the field of professional Extension.

In the past five years, Haseler established several annual agriculture trail experiences for Monroe County, published a farmers’ market, U-pick, and CSA guide, and has taught hands-on agriculture experiences to adults and youth of all ages. Additionally, she has supported the development of agritourism, led grant-funded projects to support economic development through agriculture, and provided much-needed support to growers exploring small-scale food processing. Haseler actively promotes agriculture through her collaborations and support of local small, midsize, and large farms and farm businesses.
