Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum Holding Opening Day Sale

The Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum opens for the 2026 season on Saturday, May 16, at 10 a.m. and will offer a unique opportunity for guests to purchase items that have been removed from the museum storage and collection.
The Depot Director recently completed a full inventory of the museum collection and items in storage. She identified some unusual items that do not fit the collection focus areas of the museum, which are the Erie Canal, railroads & trolleys, communication (particularly Ogden Telephone), and the history of Spencerport & Ogden.
These items will be offered for sale during the museum hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16:
- Various books on historical topics not relevant to Spencerport & Ogden
- A Chautauqua Art Desk, undated
- A pull-down wall map dated 1921 that was likely used in a classroom
- Two vintage typewriters
- An assortment of large frames
Also on May 16, participants in the new Arch Merrill Local History Book Club will be able to select their first Arch Merrill book for the discussion meeting on June 24. The program is open to anyone with an interest in local history who likes to swap stories with like-minded people. Participants will select a book from the Depot collection or get one from the library. Each participant will attend the June meeting and share at least one thing they learned from their selected book. Books will be available for selection at the Depot in May on these dates: May 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and during regular seasonal hours in June.
The Depot will open for seasonal hours in June on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
