Battles, BBQ & Beautiful Views
The Hilton-Parma Senior Center invites the community on a motorcoach adventure and has openings available for its upcoming “Battles, BBQ & Beautiful Views” trip, a day-long excursion that celebrates Western New York’s rich history as America commemorates the nation’s 250th Anniversary. The trip is on Wednesday, July 22, departing at 8 a.m. and returning at 6:15 p.m., with the resident rate of $134 and the non-resident rate of $164.
The trip begins with a visit to Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, one of North America’s oldest continuously occupied military sites. Built in 1726, the historic fort is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour or explore the grounds independently while learning about the pivotal role the fort played in shaping early American history.
Following the morning tour, travelers will enjoy a hearty barbecue buffet lunch at Brickyard Brewing Company in Lewiston. The buffet features pulled pork, beef brisket, macaroni and cheese, cornbread, salad, and rolls.
After lunch, guests will have one hour of free time to stroll Lewiston’s historic village, browse locally owned boutiques and specialty shops, sample sweet treats, or simply relax and enjoy one of Western New York’s most picturesque communities.
The day concludes at The Winery at Marjim Manor, where participants will enjoy dessert, fascinating ghost stories, and an optional wine tasting experience in the historic Victorian manor overlooking Lake Ontario.
“Battles, BBQ & Beautiful Views” offers a unique combination of history, great food, shopping, scenic beauty, and local attractions, making it an ideal day trip for anyone interested in exploring Western New York’s heritage while celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary.
