Clarkson Historical Society to Host Program on the Triangle Tract

The Clarkson Historical Society will host Ben DiMatteo of the Triangle Tract Historical Society on Tuesday, September 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Clarkson Academy, 8349 Ridge Road West, Brockport.

DiMatteo will present “The Triangle Tract: Its History and Its People,” exploring the origins of the unusual boundaries of the towns of Hamlin, Clarkson, Sweden, Bergen, and LeRoy. His program will examine how these communities were laid out to “correct the fraud” of the initial survey work and to purchase this land from the local Seneca Indian tribe to make it right.

The program is free and open to the public. For those who enjoyed visiting local museums during the recent “Night at the Museums” event, this presentation provides an opportunity to learn more about one of western New York’s unique historical stories.
