Homegrown Garlic Virtual Workshop
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County, in collaboration with Fraser’s Garlic Farm, is offering a Homegrown Garlic Virtual Workshop on September 29 at 6 p.m., with an option for participants to purchase seed garlic to plant this fall.
Garlic is one of the easiest plants to grow, but producing high-quality garlic with large, tasty, full-flavored cloves, while avoiding pests and diseases, requires skill and knowledge. Garlic grower Ed Fraser will cover the steps from planting to harvesting, curing, and storing, including common pests and diseases. Participants will learn the difference between hardneck and softneck types, the benefits of each, and what it takes to grow them using natural methods. Additionally, Alyssa VanValkenburg, CCE Monroe Nutritionist, will cover the health benefits and share some delicious recipes.

Community garden members, school garden educators, urban or suburban backyard gardeners, or aspiring small-scale market growers are welcome to join.
Register to buy high-quality Certified Naturally Grown garlic seed and start your garlic-growing journey. The garlic comes from Ed Fraser of Fraser’s Garlic Farm in Churchville. Orders come in four sizes and can be purchased with registration.
