Hilton Girl’s Story Published in Spider® Magazine

A story by Hannah Cleary, age 9, of Hilton, was selected for publication in Spider magazine. In July and August, readers were asked to submit an original story finishing the prompt: “I picked up my instrument and stepped onto the stage. Before I could play a single note . . .”

Hannah wrote a story about a girl who overcomes her fears and the confidence that can grow when we find the courage to do hard things. This is Hannah’s first published piece, and she is very excited to see her accomplishment in the Spider’s Corner section of the November/December 2026 issue.

Aside from writing, Hannah loves art, baking, gymnastics, and her two naughty parakeets, Peeky and Snowflake.

Spider, the magazine for kids ages 6 to 9, features articles on science, technology, history, and culture; short stories; poems; and activities by the best children’s authors, artists, and photographers from around the world. In each issue, readers are invited to submit their original artwork or writing on a specific theme to Spider’s Corner, with entries pouring in each time from enthusiastic readers. The editors select their favorites for publication in the magazine.

Spider is published by Cricket Media, also publisher of Babybug® magazine for infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 3 years; Ladybug® for children ages 3 to 6; and Cricket® for ages 9 to 14. These magazines are available in both print and digital editions. For more information, visit www.cricketmedia.com.
