Follow the Flavors of Fall at the Wayne County Apple Tasting Tour
Fall in New York begins with apple season, and neighboring Wayne County is a great place to experience it. From crisp, freshly picked apples and warm cider to family-friendly farm experiences, the Wayne County Apple Tasting Tour returns October 1–30 for its 29th year, inviting visitors to discover the best of New York’s largest apple-producing county.
The self-guided tour takes visitors to 11 farm markets, orchards, cideries, and wineries throughout Wayne County, where they can experience the flavors, traditions, and hospitality that have made the region a premier fall destination. Each stop offers something different, giving guests the flexibility to create their own itinerary with the tour’s signature “U Pick Your Stops, U Pick the Way” approach.
Whether picking apples straight from the orchard, sipping sweet or hard cider, browsing country markets, visiting petting zoos, or learning about the region’s rich agricultural heritage, visitors can enjoy a uniquely Wayne County fall experience at every stop.
The tour’s Signature Tasting Weekend, October 9–12, features exclusive tastings, specialty pairings, and family-friendly activities at participating locations. Guests can sample everything from apple cider doughnuts, slushies, and seasonal desserts to local honey, jellies, maple syrup, and savory dishes featuring locally grown apples.
“The Apple Tasting Tour is an invitation to experience everything that makes Wayne County special in the fall,” said Christine Worth, director of Wayne County Tourism. “From meeting the growers behind New York’s apple harvest to discovering family-owned orchards and local flavors, visitors can enjoy authentic experiences while supporting the farms and small businesses that are at the heart of our community.”
Visitors can also participate in the free Apple Tasting Tour passport program, featuring a word jumble challenge. Collect letters along the tour and unscramble them to solve the word jumble. Collect six or more letters to be eligible for the Gift Basket Giveaway. One lucky participant who collects all the letters and solves the word jumble will receive the Grand Prize Gift Basket.
Beyond celebrating the fall harvest, the Apple Tasting Tour highlights the important role agritourism plays in supporting New York farmers and small businesses. As New York’s leading apple-producing county, Wayne County offers visitors an authentic opportunity to connect with local growers while experiencing one of the state’s signature agricultural traditions.
