The Gates Fire District is asking residents to vote on the authorization of a bond to purchase a new ladder truck to replace the current Quint 4530. The vote will be held on October 7, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the District Headquarters, 2355 Chili Avenue, Rochester.
Assistant Fire Chief Mark A. Quill said, “This proposed new ladder truck would be used to replace our current aging ladder truck and ensure that we can continue providing effective emergency services to our community.”
Ahead of the vote, the district has been conducting public presentations to explain the need for the vehicle, discuss its operational benefits, review associated costs, and answer any questions residents may have. The final presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, at 6 p.m. at the District Headquarters.
“These meetings are intended to give residents an opportunity to learn about the project firsthand and ask questions in an informal setting,” Quill said. “We believe it is important for community members to have accurate information before casting their votes.”
