Homesteads for Hope’s Thursdays at the Farm
Close out the season at Homesteads for Hope Community Farm, 2185 Manitou Road, every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. through October 15. Wander the grounds, check out local vendors, swing by the farm store, or let the kids enjoy pony rides. Watch as the sun goes down on the canal, with live music playing in the background. Upcoming performers include Growl Bear (September 24), The Flowerhead Folks (October 1), The New Originals (October 8), and Southbound 35 (October 15). Bring your own chairs, coolers, or even a fishing pole, and settle in with good people and good energy. Open to all ages and abilities, there is a $5 suggested donation at the door.
Journey Home Fundraiser
Throughout the month of October, McColley’s Irish Pub, 89 South Union Street, Spencerport, is donating $1 for every chicken pot pie purchased to benefit Journey Home in Greece. Town of Greece Shredding Event
Join the Town of Greece for a free document shredding event, in partnership with Shred Text, on Saturday, September 26, from 8 a.m. to noon at Greece Athena High School, 800 Long Pond Road. Time slot reservations are required, and proof of registration will be checked. Only one registration is allowed per person, with a maximum of three banker boxes. Hilton Apple Festival
Celebrate the season at the 44th Hilton Apple Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4. With a weekend packed full of fun activities, tasty foods, unique craft vendors, live musical performances, and Auto Show (Saturday), Card, Toy & Collectibles Expo, Kids’ Korner, local growers, and a plethora of apple delights, this year’s festival promises to be a celebration to remember. Free parking is available at Hilton High School, with free shuttle service running every 10 to 15 minutes throughout the weekend, ensuring easy access to the festival grounds. Gates Fire District Open House
The Gates Fire District will hold an Open House on Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Station 1, 2355 Chili Avenue. Tour the fire trucks, try on fire gear, and tour the new Fire Safety Trailer. Gates and CHS Ambulance, Gates Police, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will also be participating. Town of Greece Fire Open House
The Town of Greece Fire Open House is on October 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at Lake Shore Fire District, 1 Long Pond Road. The four Greece fire districts – Ridge Road, Lake Shore, North Greece, and Barnard – will be on site. Tour fire apparatus, meet firefighters and EMS personnel, and learn about fire safety. Fun for the whole family.
Autumn at the Lake
Part of Rochester’s fall Roc the Riverway celebration of the Genesee River, Autumn at the Lake offers a day of fall-themed family fun where the River and Lake meet. It will be held on Sunday, October 4, from noon to 4 p.m. at Ontario Beach Park. Features a pumpkin patch, rides on the Dentzel Carousel, a local history walking tour, Wildlife Rockstars, live music by Dave Turner, lighthouse tours, vendors, and a wine and beer tasting. Greater Rochester Train Fest
The Genesee Society of Model Engineers presents the Greater Rochester Train Fest on Sunday, October 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Dome Arena Center’s Minette Hall in Henrietta. The one-day event will feature model railroad and railroad-related items offered by over a hundred vendors. It will be a “flea market” style show, with participation from local railroad museums, historical societies, and clubs. Modeling demonstrations and a limited number of portable layouts will add to the fun. Free parking, on-site food trucks, and plenty of seating available. Family Pumpkin Carving Competition
Get ready to show off those pumpkin carving skills with Greece Rec’s Family Pumpkin Carving Competition on Wednesday, October 14, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Center. Pumpkins and tools will be provided. The winning family will receive the Golden Pumpkin, and all pumpkins will be displayed at the Pumpkin Promenade during the annual Family Halloween Party. Enjoy this fun, creative night together: carve your family pumpkin, enjoy a pizza dinner, and strive for those best pumpkin bragging rights. The cost is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents. Family Halloween Party 2026
Greece Parks and Recreation’s biggest event of the year, the Family Halloween Party is set for Friday, October 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. It is full of festive activities, spooky surprises, and yummy treats for the whole family to enjoy. Kids can wear their costumes and participate in Trunk or Treating to score some candy, get their dance on under the pavilion, take a walk on the spooky trail, and more. This event is open to Greece residents only. Purchase tickets in person at The Center for $3 per person through Oct. 9 or $7 per person starting Oct. 10.
Gates Chili Homecoming
Get ready to show off your Spartan pride! The Gates Chili Homecoming Parade starts at noon on Saturday, October 17. The parade route goes from Neil Armstrong Elementary School to Spartan Stadium. At 2 p.m., the Spartans will take the field for the Homecoming football game versus Spencerport.
Gates Historical Society Presentation
The Gates Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of the month (March–November) at the Gates Town Hall Annex. The meetings are free, accessible, and open to the public. Gates Trunk or Treat
The Town of Gates and Total Sports Experience are hosting Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at Total Sports Experience, 880 Elmgrove Road. Visit more than 20 Trick-or-Treat stations sponsored by community organizations and take part in the Costume Contest.
Town of Greece Trick-or-Trot 5K & Kids DashThe Town of Greece will hold its first-ever Trick-or-Trot 5K at 8 a.m. on Halloween. Whether you run, jog, or walk, this festive 5K through Greece is open to all ages and abilities. Costumes are strongly encouraged.
