Master Gardener “Catch the Gardening Bug” series begins in April
Genesee County Master Gardeners offers their Coffee and Dessert Series this spring. Participants enjoy a variety of gardening topics taught by Master Gardeners along with coffee, tea and dessert.
•April 17 – “Secret Gardens.” Looking for answers for your yard and garden? Want to increase your confidence and experience level? Hear the stories behind some of the little known public garden spaces cared for by Master Gardeners (including the GOArt! gardens). Discover the secrets to creating and maintaining beautiful plantings, whether in your own backyard or at the corner of Main and Bank. Registration deadline is April 10.
•April 24 – “Worm Composting & Lasagna Gardening.” Worm composting is the process of using worms to turn kitchen waste into nutrient-rich compost for the garden. Lasagna gardening is a no-dig gardening method where you build layers of organic materials that will break down over time, resulting in rich soil that will help your plants thrive. Registration deadline is April 17.
•May 1 – “Annuals in the Garden.” One of the best things about annuals is their incredible diversity and versatility. They range in size from bedding plants less than a foot tall to giants that grow 8 feet or more. Join us as we explore using annuals in the garden. Registration deadline is April 24.
