Sixty-one Brockport fourth graders answered the invitation to create a poster “that in some way depicts the Erie Canal – its development and use over the years” for the Upcoming Low Bridge High Water canal opening celebration.
Judges Alicia Fink, Carol Hannan, and Lori Skoog picked the three winners and three honorable mentions on April 15.
First place went to Morgan Monnier, second place to Gisela Allen, and third place to Mia Monnier. Michael Van Detta, Cora Rose, and Rachel Lordice received honorable mentions. The winning poster will be used to advertise next year’s celebration.
The student artist winners and honorable mentions will be recognized at the official canal opening celebration, Saturday, May 4, noon, at the canalfront Welcome Center in Brockport.
