Friends of the Hamlin Library to give away over 12,000 books
The Friends of the Hamlin Public Library will be giving away the books collected over the years for their annual book sales for free, as a thank you for all of the support from the community over the years. The Great Book Giveaway will be held August 7 through 9 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church gymnasium, 1107 Lake Road, in Hamlin with the following hours: Thursday, 1 to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Friends of the Library, along with the Library Trustees, have worked diligently for over a decade to raise funds toward building a library. With the plans for a permanent library moving toward that goal, this will be the last book event of this magnitude as thanks to the community who supported them through the years. Though they will be giving away all the materials at this event, members say donations are always welcome.
There is a wide collection of over 12,000 books and materials for any interest, including over 5,000 hard cover books featuring a wide variety of fiction, including popular authors such as James Patterson, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Janet Evonovich and Danielle Steele. There is also a collection of non-fiction titles including biographies, health and wellness, crafts and decor, travel and other subjects. There are over 5,000 titles of paperbacks in the fiction and romance genres.
If there are agencies, or groups, that are interested in mass collections, they can contact the library staff at 585-964-2320.
