Hamlin Beach State Park hosts annual beach clean-up
Hamlin Beach State Park will again be host to the 9th annual “Beach Sweep” on Saturday, September 14, running from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The yearly event is part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup and is sponsored by the New York Chapter of the American Littoral Society, The College at Brockport, and the Town of Hamlin Conservation Board.
The public is invited to participate. Volunteers should meet the “Beach Captain” at the Area 4 Snack Bar and should arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. Volunteers will be permitted to enter the park free of charge and will be provided with gloves and trash bags. Each volunteer will be asked to complete a data sheet detailing the specific items they collect. This data will be shared with the American Littoral Society and the Ocean Conservancy.
Hamlin Beach State Park is part of the statewide system of parks and historic sites managed by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation which includes 179 state parks and 35 historic sites, visited by 58 million people annually.
