Brockport Fire District budget increases for 2014

Brockport Fire District Commissioners recently adopted the 2014 budget which includes total appropriations of $2.05 million up from $1.9 million in the 2013 budget.

District Treasurer Harold Mundy says the budget was approved October 15 following a public hearing at which no one spoke. He notes the biggest change is the adjusting of the operating budget down and increasing money put into reserve funds, “ … to help us be better prepared for the future,” Mundy says.

The 2014 tax rate is $1.17/$1,000 assessed valuation. That’s up slightly from the 2013 rate of $1.15/$1,000 assessed valuation. District officials say the increase remains within the tax cap.

Mundy says the increase results in a change in the tax bill for a home assessed at $150,000 of $3.04/year.
