More than 20 members of the Ogden Senior Center participated in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Senior Citizen Police Academy.

Westside Crime Prevention Officer Scott McKinney led the group through eight weeks of demonstrations and training in the history of the Sheriff’s Department functions of the 911 Center, Specialized Units purposes, and tours of the Police Academy, jail, Zone C building, and Hall of Justice.

Graduation guests included Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn, Ogden Town Supervisor Gay Lenhard, Spencerport Mayor Joyce Lobene, area 911 supervisor and a guest speaker from Lifespan.

Graduates received personalized diplomas and souvenir Sheriff’s Department coffee mugs, in addition to all the information, experience and fun they had from participating in the program.

As a finale, Ogden Seniors will join the Sheriff’s Department in December to wrap gifts for needy children in the county.
