Proposed sewer rate increase upcoming meeting topic in Holley

Village of Holley residents are encouraged to attend an upcoming meeting this month regarding a proposed increase in sewer rates.

A supervisor budget meeting was scheduled for this week but has been cancelled. Officials say the village is beginning its annual budget process – the fiscal year runs from June through May. Preliminary discussion of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year is underway.

On Tuesday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m., the Village Board will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed increase in sewer rates, “to address the Sewer Department’s deficit,” village officials say. The hearing will take place at the Village Clerk’s office, 72 Public Square.

It is not known currently the exact amount of the increase.

Following the hearing, board members will vote on the proposed increase and officials say it would go into effect February 1, if approved. Residents would see the increase in their March billing.

Residents will be notified in their next utility bill of the January 21 public hearing, Village Clerk/Treasurer Jane Murray says.
Written comments can also be submitted to the Village Hall at 72 Public Square, Holley, NY 14470.
