Pro-Brockport serves all parties to benefit all people within the town

Pro-Brockport is a political action committee which includes registered Republicans, Democrats and Independents from the village, town of Sweden and beyond.  We support candidates regardless of their party affiliation. Our members also advocate for programs and actions helpful to Brockport, support community events, like the Holiday of Lights parade and work on projects, such as the installation of downtown tree surrounds and the rehabilitation of village homes, which enhance the quality of village life.

Comments made by Sweden Supervisor Carges in the aftermath of the recent town election, and printed in the Suburban News, allude to him (or his party) being “viciously attacked” by Pro-Brockport.  Carges’ comment is inaccurate and unfair. Publicizing candidates’ performances or the record of their administration serves to inform the public and better enables voters to make informed choices. Was the published information true?  Yes. There are two town attorneys.  The incumbents voted themselves raises for both 2015 and 2016. The town court “lost” a box of parking tickets from the Village of Brockport. These facts spoke for themselves, and judging by the election results, they spoke to many voters, as well.

Pro-Brockport actively supported candidates Crane, Rich and Skoog, not because of their party affiliation, but because of long-standing policies and actions by the town board, which we believe have negatively affected the Village of Brockport and therefore, the Town of Sweden. Various efforts to control or eliminate the village, its police department, effective property codes and the code enforcement office are also opposed by Pro-Brockport.

Voters have a right to know about the true records of their elected officials, in order to make informed choices.   In the future, voters will have additional opportunities to judge whether their town officials have performed poorly or well and Pro-Brockport will again actively support worthy candidates.
