Legal considerations for starting a small business

The Business & Social Sciences Division of the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County and the College at Brockport Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will sponsor a free program on Wednesday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Kate Gleason Auditorium of the Bausch & Lomb Public Library Building located at 115 South Avenue, Rochester.

Certified Business Advisor Carla Vazquez and Attorney Jon Lazenby will present “Legal Considerations for Starting a Small Business.” Those attending will learn about key basic legal issues to address when starting a small business.

Topics discussed will include choice of business entity, tax considerations, intellectual property, contracts and more.  The program is appropriate for both first-time entrepreneurs and those who have recently started a small business. Mr. Lazenby’s legal practice specializes in counseling small businesses.

This seminar continues the First Wednesday small business seminar series, which takes place on Wednesdays each month through June, at the Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County.  The monthly seminars feature small business experts speaking on various topics of interest to the small business community including feasibility, social media, legal structure, financing, business plan basics and more.
