Rotary Celebrates at Changeover Dinner – Brockport Rotary Club used the occasion to present new officers and award honorees. Club officers for 2017-18 include (l-r): Front – Treasurer Brandi Reis, President Eileen Whitney (also Brandi’s mom) and Secretary Doris Russo; back – Directors Deb Clare, Steve Drexler and John Egan, Immediate Past President Eric Jensen and Director Matt Roberts. Brockport Rotary presents Community Award to Chet FeryChet Fery (aka “The Bread Man”) was the recipient of the Rudy Smith Community Citizen of the Year Award for 2017. George Dahl (left) nominated Fery for the Award which was presented by Dahl and Outgoing President Eric Jensen. Fery has a well deserved reputation as a generous and excellent baker who uses his baking and presentation talents to minister life’s lessons. He gives out his loaves wherever he goes. A former BOCES Administrator, he began bread making by making pizza for his children. It has expanded to speaking engagement and baking lessons to numerous groups and individuals throughout the area. Dahl also knew Fery from BISCO where for several years he served on the Board and organized and supervised the transporting of visitors to the Brockport Arts Festival.

David Arnold honored with Kropman Award – Brockport Rotarian and BISCO Treasurer Dave Arnold (right) received the club’s service award from Outgoing President Eric Jensen. The award honors the memory of deceased Irv Kropman, a model for Rotary’s Service Above Self motto.  Club Historian Gene Wood related tales of Kropman’s legendary service ethic.

2017 Paul Harris Honor presented to Incoming Brockport Rotary President  Eileen Whitney received the Rotary International (RI) Paul Harris Honor bestowed by the club’s longest serving member Gene Wood (right) and Outgoing President Eric Jensen. The award is given in the name of Rotary International Founder Paul Harris and represents a $1,000 donation to RI in the name of the local honoree.
