Brockport Police report

Community message:

Consumers please beware this time of year. Almost every spring/summer, private contractors such as landscapers and driveway pavers are out looking for jobs. They may come to your door to solicit their services to you.  The Village of Brockport requires each of these contractors to have a Peddling & Soliciting permit.  Each person must display the permit in a way to be seen by the resident. (Refer to Brockport Village Code 23- Peddling & Soliciting on the Village of Brockport website). If for any reason you have questions or concerns about a solicitor contact 911 and we will come out to verify the solicitor.

If the contractor/solicitor is someone whom you would like to hire, make sure you are aware of the agreed upon deals that they may offer you. Get work in writing, especially if they require cash up front. If it is too good to be true, it probably is.

There are a lot of hard working and honest contractors in our community whom we can appreciate.  However, please be aware of the potential person(s) who would like to take advantage of the kind residents of our community.

As always, any requests for comment or questions regarding this release should be directed to Chief Mark Cuzzupoli at 637-1020 during regular business hours.
