“Vets Driving Vets” program
The Monroe County Veterans Service Agency (VSA) is an outstanding resource for some of the most valued members of our community. I am proud to support our veterans through this program and the other great programs offered at the VSA. This Agency does an outstanding job representing our veterans and educating them about the benefits and services they have earned through their service. One of those services is the “Vets Driving Vets” program.
The Monroe County VSA has partnered with CompeerCORPS to provide friendships and networks for veterans. Through the “Vets Driving Vets” program, veterans can sign up to volunteer as a driver for other veterans to provide transportation to appointments, errands, shopping, and anywhere else they may need to go. This program is completely free for veterans and is a great way for them to connect and build relationships with other veterans in our community.
When Veterans return from service, many suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other issues. Supporting veterans who help fellow veterans ensures that these men and women have an opportunity to lead successful and happy lives. The “Vets Driving Vets” program is just one way that our veterans can support each other and build positive lifelong relationships.
There are dozens of programs and benefits available to our veterans and their families that are available and supported by the Monroe County VSA. If you are a veteran and are interested in becoming a volunteer driver or are in need of transportation through the “Vets Driving Vets” program, or if you would like to learn about other benefits and services available to you, visit https://www2.monroecounty.gov/vsa-home or call the Monroe County VSA at 753-6040. Thank you to our veterans for their service to our country.
