Ogden Police make arrests thanks to an alert citizen

Two adults and one juvenile were apprehended and charged with possession of stolen vehicle, thanks to an alert citizen who called 911 to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood.

On July 16 at about 11 p.m., a resident of Sagewood Drive in Ogden called 911 to report a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers responded to the call and located the vehicle, unoccupied, on Sagewood Drive. A check of the registration showed the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Officers checking the area located one suspect nearby in the vicinity of a dirt bike that had just been stolen. With the assistance of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, two additional suspects were found about a mile away, hiding in a residential garage. All suspects were taken into custody without incident. Several other vehicles in the area were also found to have been entered.

Ogden Police believe this case may be related to the case of another vehicle reported stolen from Brower Road earlier in the week, among others, and additional charges may be forthcoming. All persons involved are considered innocent of any crime until found guilty in court.

Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and not leave keys or valuables inside. The Ogden Police Department promotes the practice of a 9 p.m. routine for residents to secure their homes, sheds, garages and vehicles.
