Town of Sweden awards sidewalk projects

The Town of Sweden has awarded the construction of three new sidewalks to Genesee Building Restoration. The three sidewalk projects are on Owens Road, Holley Street and Persistence Path/Isla Way. Construction is slated to begin in June and be completed by the end of October.

The contractor will likely begin with the sidewalks on Holley Street and Persistence Path/Isla Way as the town is awaiting final NYS DEC approval for the sidewalks on Owens Road. Letters will be mailed to homeowners along the sidewalk route to provide more details regarding the projects.

No easements from property owners were needed on Holley Street and Persistence Path/Isla Way as all work will occur in the road right-of-way. Two easements were needed for the Owens Road sidewalk and they have been secured.

The Owens Road sidewalk project will provide continuous sidewalks to connect Route 31 to the Village of Brockport via South Avenue. The Holley Street and Persistence Path/Isla Way sidewalks will improve safety for walkers as well as link pedestrian paths to the canal and the Sweden Town Park.
