Paving work underway along Route 36 in Riga and Wheatland

The New York State Department of Transportation has begun paving work along State Route 36 in the towns of Wheatland and Riga to resurface nearly eight miles of pavement between Route 383 in the hamlet of Mumford and the village of Churchville.

Construction activities include work to smooth the roadway and establish a new layer of pavement along Route 36, which is expected to take place in June and July.

Two-way traffic will be maintained during this time using alternating single-lane closures and flagging personnel in the work zones. Motorists should expect minor delays and consider planning an alternate route.

All construction activities at this location are weather dependent and subject to change.
