Solidarity in Spencerport

Dozens of people gathered along Route 259 in Spencerport on Saturday, June 6, at 6 p.m. to show solidarity with those peacefully demonstrating throughout the United States and around the world in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Nathan Barbeto, Carol Elgie, and Erin Barbeto came to the event because they felt everyone should do something.

Aaron Delehanty said he had come to the corner of West Avenue and Union Street for four days. “I came out to show that we all need to help solve the problem.” Of the event, Ogden Police Chief Chris Mears posted on Twitter, “Awesome to see a community exercising their 1st Amendment rights. It was a solemn and moving demonstration.” A similar event was held in Hilton the same evening.
