“Pound 4 Pound” project aids Spencerport Food Shelf

The youth group at the First Congregational Church in Spencerport UCC, 65 Church Street, is participating in a “Pound 4 Pound” project to support the Spencerport Ecumenical Food Shelf. Each teenager weighed themselves, and then during the month of July, their goal was to collect the equivalent amount of food, or a like amount of cash to donate. For example, if a child weighed 100 pounds, they worked to collect 100 pounds of food – or $110 from family, friends and neighbors. The church is issuing a challenge to other area churches to do the same. Summer is a difficult season for food shelves, especially during the pandemic. All local youths are invited to join in this worthy effort.
