Spencerport bridge repair update

Ray Kuntz Jr. recently snapped these photos of the ongoing bridge repairs in Spencerport. A second story is being added to the bridge control tower to give the lift operator better visibility of approaching boat traffic. The bridge’s steel decking is also being replaced.When asked for an update, Jordan Guerrein from the New York State Department of Transportation said, “The contractor working on the bridge is making good progress with the steel repairs and control tower. We still look forward to re-opening Rt. 259/Union Street to traffic in November.”

Update – August 19, 2020

Work crews placed new curbing in front of several Union Street businesses in preparation for new sidewalks to be installed. Photos by Ray Kuntz Jr.

The bridge was prepared for sandblasting and repainting. The blue machine is the sandblaster, and the tarp is to contain the dust.

August 26

The installation of new sidewalks is underway.
