Sweden Tax Receiver recommends remote payment methods

The 2021 Sweden Town and County Tax bills will be mailed out during the first week of January. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tax Receiver Kathleen Bahr-Seever is recommending that tax payments be made by mail, drop box (at front of town hall) or online at www.monroecounty.gov. Bahr-Seever will have office hours starting January 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, however, she asks that residents call or email with questions rather than coming to the office in person. Additional COVID guidance regarding payment of taxes may be forthcoming from Monroe County.

Important dates to remember: February 10 full payments or first installments are due; second installments will be collected February 11 through 28; third installments March 1 through 31; and fourth installments, April 1 through 30. Unpaid tax bills after this are turned over to Monroe County. The county has not waived the installment payment fees.

Property owners who do not receive a tax bill, are in the midst of a property transfer, have recently paid off a mortgage, or have any other tax questions, should call 637-2145 or email kathleenb@townofsweden.org.
