Music returns to the Brockport Welcome Center this summer

“Summer Serenades are back – bigger and better than ever, for a 2021 Tenth Anniversary season – and we’re pretty excited,” says Jacquie Davis, Summer Serenades chairperson.

“Please join us for all seven weeks of free, family friendly, live music performances throughout July and August,” add the other long time volunteer organizers.

Concerts are Thursday evenings from July 15 through August 26, canal side just east of Main Street at Brockport’s Welcome Center. July concerts begin at 7 p.m. while August performances begin at 6:30 p.m. The location for the RPO on August 5 is yet to be determined.

The first performance of the season, Zak’s Pack at 7 p.m. on July 15, will be the concluding event of a celebratory community day sponsored by the Village of Brockport.  Beginning at 5:30 p.m., a flotilla of kayaks will arrive to help dedicate the Welcome Center’s new adaptive kayak launch, with music by She Sings and additional events.

Summer Serenades performances are:

•July 15 – Zak’s Pack

•July 22 – Eight Days a Week

•July 29 – a surprise TBA

•August 5 – The RPO (location TBA)

•August 12 – Feedback

•August 19 – Chris Wilson

•August 29 – The Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra

Attendees should bring their own chairs. Strict adherence to all COVID-19 requirements in place at the time of each event will be followed.  An indoor rain venue is yet to be determined. Watch for more information later at www.brockport.ny.org – along with location and other details for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra performance.

Starting this season, Summer Serenades and winter Cabin Fever performances will be hosted by the Village of Brockport.  The all volunteer organizing committee – Bill Andrews, Terry Carbone, Jacquie Davis, Patty Kutz, Jo Matela, and Gary Skoog – looks forward to this newly established relationship and to new opportunities to further develop the arts in the Brockport community.

Serenades will continue to be funded solely by donations and grants, without which the music series could not continue.  The committee wishes to thank residents and local businesses for ten years of generous support. The fundraising goal for the full 2021-22 season is $7,000.

Tax-deductible checks can be sent to Village of Brockport, Summer Serenades, 127 Main Street, Brockport NY 14420.  Indicate on the check’s memo line that it is intended for Summer Serenades.  As in the past, all contributors will be acknowledged in the season flyer.  Donors at the $500 and $1,000+ levels will also be designated as sponsors and underwriters.
