Rec Fest looking to expand for 2021

The Rochester Recreation Festival (Rec Fest), a Spencerport-based festival, is in its third year in 2021. The festival is shaping up to be bigger this year, thanks to the support of the Rochester community.

The MVP Health Care Sports Arena is expanding by adding a disc golf course, a nerf battlefield, a rock-climbing wall, and updated mini golf holes. Some of the fan favorites like cornhole and ladder ball will return as well as the exhibitors, food trucks, activity tent, and the main stage.

The festival is on the hunt for more community organizations to be involved this year. The festival hopes to welcome some new organizations from the recreation, health, and wellness community to be exhibitors this year. They are also searching for more food trucks, bands, and entertainers. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Rec Fest Director Simon Devenish says, “The first two festivals happened during challenging times with the Spencerport lift bridge being closed in 2019 and 2020 as well as COVID restrictions last year. Things are looking more promising in 2021, so we look forward to welcoming a bigger crowd this year.”

This year’s festival will be held on the Spencerport Firemen’s Field on Saturday, August 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Profits from the festival are donated to local recreation-based programs and organizations.
