Brockport’s Main Street Bridge Closure Committee seeking interested members

The Village of Brockport’s Bridging the Closure Committee has been meeting since June of 2021 to plan for the upcoming 18-month Main Street bridge closure for major repairs beginning in August of 2022. They have met with the NYS DOT, and with representatives from Spencerport and Fairport, which recently emerged from 18-month bridge closures. The committee’s mission is: “To guide local businesses and the Brockport community through the Main Street bridge closure with effective communication and innovative solutions.”

Much of the work going forward will be done by the four subcommittees –  vehicular traffic, active transportation (pedestrians/cyclists) and recreation, events and fund raising, marketing. The committee is seeking additional members for these subcommittees to begin work in January.  Anyone interested in being on a subcommittee may fill out a position interest form at https://www.brockportny.org/departments-services/forms-and-applications/position-interest-form/view/form. Village residency is not required.

The Bridging the Closure Committee is co-chaired by Mayor Margay Blackman and Village Trustee Kathy Kristansen. Committee meeting minutes, job descriptions of subcommittees, and related documents can be found on the Village’s webpage at https://www.brockportny.org/government/bridging-the-closure-committee.
