Name Sweden’s skatepark or sponsor a brick

The Town of Sweden has launched a campaign to raise funds for its new Skatepark at the Sweden Town Park, 4761 Redman Road. Construction will take place in the early summer of 2022. The town is soliciting proposals for the naming rights to the Skatepark and to primary features at the skatepark through a Request For Proposal process. The Request can be found on the town website at www.townofsweden.org or at the Sweden Town Hall, 18 State Street.

The Skatepark is funded in large part by the Ralph Wilson Jr. Foundation and The Skatepark Project through a $250,000 grant and $50,000 environmental award. The fundraising campaign will further reduce the cost to local taxpayers.

The Sweden Community Foundation is also helping with the campaign by selling bricks that will be installed at the skatepark. Two sizes of bricks are available: 4” by 8” with three lines of writing up to 15 characters per line for $125; and 9” by 9” with four lines of writing up to 17 characters per line for $250.

Brick purchases are a way to honor or memorialize someone, to celebrate an occasion, or promote a business. All proceeds benefit the skatepark. Both naming rights and brick purchases are tax deductible.

For more information about the naming rights or brick purchases, email supervisor@townofsweden.org or call the town at 637-7588. The deadline for a Naming Rights Proposal submission is January 28, 2022. Brick sales will be on-going for several months. Naming Rights RFPs and brick sales forms are available at the Sweden Town Hall or by emailing supervisor@townofsweden.
